Opening: “Poluiticians, Bars & Sandhills – Henry Vermillion at Galeria Blue Moon
Event Category: All Events, Artistic Events, and Art Openings and Exhibits

Over the years, I´ve learned that most art galleries sing the same song: “Give me work so that when people walk in, they´ll say “Ah, there´s a Vermillion!” In other words, pick a style and stick to it. In my show at Galeria Blue Moon (which opens Friday, December 15, 5 to 8 pm and closes December 30) you will see why I prefer to show in cooperative galleries. The work is in various styles. Many tell or suggest stories, and some, though figurative, require close looking to absorb what´s going on. The show is divided into sections: childhood, politics and politicians, good times in bars, soccer, landscape and, of course, people. Being pervasive and universal, sex is dealt with in pictures of ordinary lovers and their problems, and with prostitutes and their happy customers. In addition, there are paintings and drawings of figures with parts disassembled and re-assembled in a different order, with satirical intent.
Another section features light-hearted, colorful paintings—dogs, cats and other beings. Galeria Blue Moon is located at #7 Stirling Dickenson.
