Pro Musica is excited to introduce the dazzling young pianist Llewellyn Sánchez, who will play in St. Paul’s Church on Friday, January 12 and Sunday, January 14 at 5pm, in place of Yoonie Han, who is indisposed.
Called a “gifted virtuoso” by the San Francisco Chronicle and “impressive” by The New York Times, 27-year-old Llewellyn Sánchez-Werner made his concerto debut at age 6 and entered Juilliard at 14, earning Bachelor and Master of Music degrees and winning their concerto competition. Recognized with a Gilmore Young Artist Award as one of America’s most promising young pianists, he took First Prize at the 2022 Concert Artists Guild International Competition. He has performed internationally in venues including Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, the Louvre, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center and the White House (for Presidents Obama and Biden). As a chamber musician, he has collaborated with artists such as Renée Fleming and worked with the Brentano, Borromeo, and Shanghai Quartets. Committed to public service, he received the Atlantic Council Young Global Citizen Award for social action through music. He holds an Artist Diploma from the Yale School of Music and is a Steinhardt Doctoral Fellow and Professor of piano at New York University.
