Concert for all: “Spicy Jewish Music”

I’m excited to invite the SMA community to my upcoming concert. Three other excellent musicians and I are going to play a great variety of Jewish music mixed with Latino elements. You don’t have to be Jewish, or even religious, to enjoy the music. We will play beautiful and energetic tunes with positive messages, including pieces from Ukraine, Israel, Spain, and other countries of Eastern Europe and the Middle East. You will hear accordion, piano, percussion, clarinet, trumpet, ukulele and more. Dancers from the International Folk Dance Group will also join us for several songs. I will be singing in Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino, and a bit of Spanish and English too.

Tickets only cost 150 pesos, and you can purchase them at Relojería Raúl on Orizaba 16, at el Sindicato on Recreo 4, or at the JC3 (Jewish Cultural and Community Center) on Las Moras 47. The concert will be on Wednesday, July 3 at 7pm in el Sindicato. Tickets will also be available the night of the performance for 180 pesos.

Four years ago I underwent a surgery because I was losing coordination and strength in my right hand due to pinched nerves in my neck. I was unable to play instruments for several years, but now I’ve recovered, and continue recovering, and so this concert is especially meaningful for me. I am grateful for the gift of music, and want to share it with you.
