Uncovering Family Secrets with
Danielle Trussoni and Julie Metz
By Joy Sablatura and Dena M. Cruz
Every family has a story! In this installment of San Miguel Literary Sala’s Distinguished Speakers Series, two remarkably talented authors will discuss in a Zoom Event the art of researching and writing family secrets and the challenges of condensing it on the page, whether fiction or memoir.
Julie Metz is the author of Eva and Eve: A Search for My Mother’s Lost Childhood and What a War Left Behind. Interweaving personal memoir and family history, Eva and Eve is a beautiful ode to her mother who escaped the Nazis as a child in Vienna in 1940. Julie Metz is the New York Times bestselling author of Perfection. She has written for numerous publications including The New York Times, Salon, Dame, Redbook, and Glamour. She has received fellowships at Yaddo, the MacDowell Colony, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and the Vermont Studio Center.
Danielle Trussoni, bestselling author of the Angelology series, has recently released a new novel entitled “The Ancestor.” She tells a story of a woman who in unraveling the truth about her family, learns that her true inheritance is not the castle in the Italian Alps or the families’ noble title, but rather her family genes and the choices her family has made. The author currently writes the Horror column for the New York Times Book Review and has recently served as a jurist for the Pulitzer Prize in Fiction. She holds an MFA in Fiction from the prestigious Iowa Writers’ Workshop, where she won the Michener-Copernicus Society of America Award.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear an entertaining conversation between two women known for their meticulous research and authentic writing. This online event promises to be engaging and interactive, affording you an opportunity to “come up on stage” and ask questions of the writers.
Tickets are $5-50 USD, available at www.SanMiguelLiterarySala.org.
