As part of the 2nd annual gathering of La Red Latinoamericana de Acomañamiento en la Muerte y el Duelo (Latinamerican Network of Accompaniment in Dying and Grieving), we are honored to host the screening of the documentary “The Last Ecstatic Days” followed by a conversation with Scott Kirschenbaum, director and producer, and Wilka Roig, president of Fundación Elisabeth Kübler-Ross México Centro with headquarters in San Miguel de Allende.
The Last Ecstatic Days explores the physical, emotional, and psychological journey of one man’s desire to not die alone, and the hospice doctor who gives up everything to honor that dying wish.
The Fundación Elisabeth Kübler-Ross (EKR) México Centro is a non-profit, non-governmental organization based in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, which is dedicated to offering pro bono in-person and online accompaniment services, and awareness and sensitization programs around the themes of loss, grief, end of life, and green burials for ecological restoration. Fundación EKR México Centro has the honor of leading the national tour to present the documentary The Last Ecstatic Days, being the organism chosen by its director, filmmaker Scott Kirschenbaum, for its presentation.
In April 2024, the Red de Acompañamiento will gather, for the second time, pioneers in the fields of accompaniment in dying and grieving from 10 countries, with the aim of connecting with all those who contribute to this movement through a variety of roles, to better understand the progress of our individual countries as well as our challenges. We continue to learn from each other and collaborate in new and effective ways to advance our collective mission. We work together monthly and we unite annually to advance this movement beyond our independent countries, to benefit everyone in the Americas collectively.
The Red Latinoamericana continues to expand this important work with grief and end of life care in Latin America and for Latin Americans worldwide as a network of integration and support to people who are at the service of others in life transition processes, as well as those who serve as death and grief activists.
