This documentary follows Mama Irene in her life every day, showcasing their healing and curing methods her passion for caring for each patient who calls at your doorstep: from traveling peasant women days on foot through the Andes to a doctor from India looking for a cure for a disease that western medicine has not been able to cure.

We accompanied Mama Irene during old ceremonies such as the Feast of Mr. De Ccoyllur Rit’i, where thousands of pilgrims meet in the heights of the peruvian andes to honor the divinities.

The film shows the secret methods of healing Mama Irene than ever before they were filmed. However, this movie is not is just a vital document on wisdom in danger of extinction; it is also a story on the empowerment of women and how Live in harmony with Mother Earth.

As the movie unfolds, we will learn about the personal journey of Mama Irene who discovered her healing gift by chance at the age of three, when she cured intuitively the migraines of a neighbor using his saliva. For this reason, she became known in the town like La Doctorcita. Her father sold her as a slave; she was beaten by her husband who he was determined to keep her in the role of servant woman; gave birth to fifteen children, eight of which arose; endured misogyny and rivalry of male shamans.

However, Mama Irene never hesitated to carry on with her trade. She believed in herself and the gifts they were born with. This is the story of a woman who has overcome great obstacles and continues to grow and inspire her 84 years.

The Teatro Santa Ana is an intimate 91-seat theater, located inside the Biblioteca Publica. For over 20 years, the Teatro Santa Ana has been a premiere venue for theatrical productions, musical concerts, films and conferences in Centro historico San Miguel de Allende.
