If you’re a resident of San Miguel de Allende, you know the drill. Friday is the day the new copy of Atencíon hits the local newstands. Get your copy by Saturday or, chances are, they’ll be all gone. What is it about this weekly newspaper that has made it so popular? Quite simply, it’s the paper’s connection with the community. Atencíon has mass appeal to it’s readers, with page after page of interesting topics. From upcoming events, to SMA Society, to important news of the area, Atencíon has just about something for everyone.
On Tuesday, February 12th, the Midday Rotary Club of San Miguel de Allende presents Atencíon’s Editor in Chief, Tania Noriz. Ms. Noriz has been with Atencíon for 15 years, first hitting the streets gathering local stories as a reporter, and then working her way up the ladder to editorial assistant, assistant editor, and then the top job in 2014. Her other credentials include running the Artisans liaison office within the economic development department during Jesús Correa administration, and when the time allows, she teaches history. Oh yes, she’s a wife and mother too.
Tania’s dedication to Atencíon is evident with the quality of the weekly publication. She says, and we all would agree, that Atención needs to be acknowledged for it importance not only as a media outlet but for more than 45 years as the major contributor for la Biblioteca to accomplish its mission.
What happens between the pages? Hear all about it on Tuesday, February 12th when Atencíon editor in Chief Tania Noriz is our featured speaker at Midday Rotary Club’s weekly meeting. We’re located next at Cafeteria San Miguel Essen, next to the yellow caboose on Sterling Dickenson. Doors open at 9AM with an optional breakfast for $100 pesos per person. The presentation will begin at 9:30 and is free.
