As our community begins a very measured reopening of the economy, there are still many questions that remain about COVID 19.  Every day we are learning new things about this virus that leaves most of us asking lots of questions.  When will it be safe to reopen domestic and global economies?  What will be the long term effects of unemployment and self-isolation?  Is vaccine development realistic?  And what is the likelihood that the virus will mutate and/or reemerge?

A preeminent global expert on the subject of “fast adaptation,” the accelerating pace of change, Rebecca Costa, will be the guest speaker on June 16th as the Midday Rotary Club of San Miguel de Allende presents Post COVID 19 – Lessons Learned.  Costa will speak about COVID 19 and what you can expect in the next few months. She’ll talk about the effectiveness of vaccines, the hope of cures, and the untrustworthy information provided by most news sources.

Rebecca D. Costa is an American sociobiologist and futurist. A global thinker in the mold of Jared Diamond, Ray Kurzweil, and Thomas Friedman, Costa attributes her ability to see the “big picture” to her cross-cultural education and upbringing. Raised in Tokyo, Japan, and Vientiane, Laos, during the Vietnam conflict, Costa brings a unique perspective to the everyday challenges of work and life. Rebecca Costa is an alumnus of the University of California at Santa Barbara and currently resides in Astoria, Oregon.  Her career spans four decades of working with founders, key executives, and venture capitalists in Silicon Valley. Costa’s first book, The Watchman’s Rattle: A Radical New Theory of Collapse, was an international bestseller. Her follow‐on book, titled On the Verge, was introduced in 2017 to critical acclaim, shooting to the top of Amazon’s #1 New Business Releases. Costa’s work has been featured in The New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, SF Chronicle, The Guardian, and other leading publications.
