The speaker this week is Hospice Care by Mitigare. Mitigare provides hospice care to all persons in San Miguel urban and rural areas. They maintain a Financial Assistance Program where by any person, regardless of their financial capacity to pay, can receive end-of-life care. Hospice normally takes place in the home of the patient and Mitigare has the durable medical equipment needed to take to the patient’s home.
Anyone living permanently in San Miguel should have three important documents in case their health declines. Those documents are an Advanced Directive or Living Will, a Last Will and Testament if they own a home and a Financial Power of Attorney in the event they are not able to handle their daily finances due to illness.
On Tuesday, November 17th, Hospice Care by Mitigare will explain the importance of having an Advanced Directive/Living Will in place in the event a person is unable to speak for themselves in a medical crisis.
In Mexico, the law for Advance Directives is specific for each state. In the presentation next week, you will learn about the importance of Advanced Directives and how to prepare and share your health care wishes in the event you are unable to do so. Hospice Care by Mitigare is also working with local notaries to help individuals complete this important and often overlooked document.
