Participants will photograph in the beautiful old world colonia of Alcocer. We will photograph in the valley of mountains, including open land, a small town and an old hacienda. Students will photograph, develop their film, and print from negatives in the darkroom. Film, paper, and snacks provided. Additional film and paper available for additional fees. No prior darkroom experience necessary.
Mary Meade (www.marymmeade.com) is a book designer and fine art photographer who has exhibited her work in Mexico City and San Miguel de Allende. Originally from Michigan, she moved to Mexico in 1996. She earned an MFA from the Instituto Allende, where she fell in love with black-and-white photography. Agave Darkroom is located at her home in Alcocer. Currently, Mary works as a mentor and designer for those embarking on the journey of self-publishing.
Ri Anderson (www.rianderson.com) was born in Boston, MA. She received her MFA with a concentration in photography from Massachusetts College of Art. Her fine art photography has been shown at museums and galleries throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, and China. She has taught at a variety of universities and schools, including Massachusetts College of Art, the Boston Photo Collaborative, and the DeCordova Museum School, as well as given numerous darkroom, photoshop, technical, and theoretical classes in San Miguel de Allende.
