A dozen musicians will take the stage at El Sindicato on Wednesday, August 16, at 7pm to perform three works for string orchestra: two Romantic favorites and a film score.
The Romantic works are the two supreme Serenades for string orchestra, Antonin Dvorák’s Serenade for Strings in E Major and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for String Orchestra in C Major. The film music is Bernard Herrmann’s score for Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, a dramatic masterpiece of music for cinema.
The performers are the Allende String Orchestra, conducted by Mauro Ledesma. The ASO is an extension of the Allende String Quartet – Adrián Barrera Ramos (concertmaster, Querétaro Philharmonic), first violin; Clifton Foster (formerly of the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra, and a noted session musician who has worked with Linda Ronstadt and other popular artists), second violin; Madilyn Alford, viola, and Guillermo Sánchez Romero, cello. Filling out their ranks are seven additional string players – three more violinists, an additional violist and cellist, and a double-bassist, all touring professionals with symphony orchestras.
This concert is produced by La Troupe Mexico and underwritten by a generous grant from anonymous donors, classical music lovers.
All seats are reserved, and tickets are priced at 650 pesos for the front rows, 500 for the middle rows, and 350 for the back rows. El Sindicato is located at Recreo #4 in Centro, near the corner of Correo.
