San Miguel PEN Presents
Chef Gabriela Cámara, “The Devil Is in the Details: Celebrating Diana Kennedy’s Mexican Culinary Legacy.”Tue, Jan 24, 6pm, in English, Bellas Artes Second Floor Auditorium, Hernandez Macias 75, 200 Pesos Contribution
Cámara, chef, cookbook writer and the restaurateur behind Contramar and Entremar in Mexico City, was friends with Diana Kennedy for 20 years. It should be a very interesting evening!
Cámara says that she became friends with Diana Kennedy in 2001 “because I was lucky enough to have her approve of me and my cooking. She liked my restaurant, Contramar,” because of the attention to details: “the flavors, the simple decoration, the way we served our food, the liveliness of the place, the good service. Diana´s complexity and greatness were all about a life dedicated to learning and admiring the small things that made a recipe, a landscape, a sunset special. She caught them all, with an extraordinary alertness of all her senses. She was a true explorer and connoisseur of details, especially in flavors and food. As she constantly repeated, ‘the devil is in the details.’”
