My Narrator is about that little voice inside your head, the one that tells you how to behave and what choices to make. It’s a one-act play written by Norm Foster, who is often referred to as “Canada’s Neil Simon.” Light, quick and charming, this romantic comedy with its rapid dialogue and a plot twist will delight you.
Lacy (Clara Dunham) calls that little voice inside her head her inner narrator and it helps her make decisions (mostly to stop her from dating undesirable men). She meets a salesman named Miles (Gene Harvey) who likes the idea of a narrator so much, he gets his own.
Not surprisingly, their getting together places the two of them and their respective narrators (played by Barbara Ziff and Frank Simons) in conflict. This fun play brings something fresh to the world’s most overdone subject—love, while exploring what it’s like to live with a voice that’s trying to change you.
