The Allende Dam is at 105 percent of its total capacity, which is why this afternoon the floodgates were opened to begin releasing the water.
It was exactly at 6:00 p.m. that the authorities informed the municipalities through which the Laja River flows that the dam’s floodgate would be opened to release 50 cubic meters per second.
Authorities of Comonfort informed that this release is controlled by the National Water Commission (CONAGUA) and they will determine the amount of water to be released from the dam based on the reaction of the Laja River, either to maintain the extraction or to increase it.
The municipality of Comonfort informs that the Civil Protection Unit is maintaining permanent monitoring of the riverbed and asks the population living near the riverbank to take precautions, which for the moment are minor.
