In general, restaurants in Guanajuato increased their sales by an average of 21 percent during the national holiday celebrations.

This was reported by the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (Canirac), which on the other hand detailed that municipalities such as San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato Capital were affected by the weather conditions.

Although an increase of up to 30 percent was predicted compared to a traditional Wednesday, however, weather conditions in key municipalities such as San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato Capital, and Leon did not help to achieve this goal.

“The expectations in sales were to increase sales in restaurants by up to 30%, but this was not achieved due to the heavy rains that were recorded in San Miguel de Allende, Celaya, Leon, etc.”.

They emphasized that they were able to rebound by an average of a little more than 20 percent in all the Canirac delegations in the state, since “it is still a quite acceptable increase that contributes to our economic recovery”, according to its president Helen Anaya Sanromán.

They explained that many of the reservations that were made for Wednesday, September 15, 2021, had to be canceled because diners could not arrive due to the rains, especially in places like terraces that are the areas that are given more priority because they are outdoor places.

“Above all a great variety of Mexican snacks we have very good comments, people trust our places as places of healthy coexistence and this was reflected this September 15 and 16”, concluded Anaya Sanromán.

As for the capacity of the restaurants, on average 57 percent is registered, three points below the maximum installed capacity allowed in the current Economic Reactivation Traffic Light, which in yellow with alert is 60 percent.
