Inspired by the Novo-Hispanic constructions and in honor of the people who lost the battle against the COVID, Rafael Álvarez Mendoza composed a Hymn to San Miguel de Allende.
On the occasion of the Fiestas Patrias that begins this Wednesday, Rafa stressed that the historical legacy of this Heritage City inspired him to make Sanmiguelenses feel proud of their roots and traditions.
“I think writing and singing an Anthem is very emotional. You reach the pinnacle of emotion and raise your patriotic love to the top,” Rafa said.
“I am an admirer of the heroes who gave us Homeland and San Miguel, without a doubt, is the cradle of great characters who gave life and strength to the insurgency,” he added.
In the arrangements of this composition, he was supported by Juan José Hernández Sierra, a musician who also shares his love for the land of General Ignacio Allende and his admiration for the cultural richness of the state of Guanajuato.
In addition to the Himno Sanmiguelense, Álvarez Mendoza has composed “La Potrillada” and “El Dicharachero”, among other country and festive pieces.
