The State Secretariat of Tourism expects that the national holidays will bring a rebound in the arrival of visitors to the state, however, this will depend on whether the municipalities decide whether the celebrations will be in person or not.

Last year, most of the celebrations for the beginning of the War of Independence in the municipalities took place virtually or with limited attendance without popular festivities due to the covid pandemic.

The Secretary of Tourism in the state, Juan José Álvarez Brunel pointed out that the celebrations of 2021 have greater relevance since it is the 200th anniversary of the consummation of the independence struggle that began in Dolores Hidalgo.

He added that the expectation of tourist attraction for the national holidays is good, but it depends largely on the organization that each of the municipalities has.

“We have seen how the behavior of the people is to go out, to be in the celebrations, to attend the mitigation measures, we expect it to be a very important date and we will have to wait for the municipalities to decide in their territory, depending on their conditions what they want to do with their patriotic celebrations”.

In spite of the fact that there is a Committee for the Bicentennial Celebrations of the Consummation of Independence that has already organized some events both in the state capital and in San Miguel de Allende, the state official pointed out that it has not yet been defined how the shout will be carried out in Dolores Hidalgo.
