Tecozautla, a natural paradise in Hidalgo that you must know

Tecozautla is a natural paradise located within a large valley composed of plateaus, geological faults, and volcanic domes. The town has a colonial style, its streets are narrow and lead you to the main square, where the majesty of the municipal clock, a quarry tower representative of the town, dominates the square.

The Magical Town of Tecozautla has a temperate-semi-cool climate, where the songs of the birds will delight you while you walk through its streets, and you enter its vegetation; do not hesitate to rest under the shade of a walnut tree or enjoy the fruits that nature gives you.

The thermal waters of its spas have minerals and an average temperature of 38 degrees. In Tecozautla there is a natural geyser of waters with curative properties that emanates in the middle of the hills.

When was it named Pueblo Magico?
Its naming as Pueblo Magico was in 2015, given by the Ministry of Tourism, for being a place recognized for its warm thermal waters and houses with picturesque roofs.

Where is it located?
It is bordered to the north by Zimapán and Querétaro; to the east by Tasquillo and Alfajayucan; to the south by Huichapan. It is located one hour away from San Juan del Río; one hour and 40 minutes from Querétaro. Two and a half hours from Pachuca and San Miguel de Allende; three hours from Toluca, and 3:30 hours from Mexico City, Guanajuato, or Tlaxcala.

Banzha Rock Paintings
It is a magical site that was inhabited by nomadic groups, which left their mark on the stones, where we can admire beautiful cave paintings. Inside the caves these groups traced diverse human figures, animals, geometric figures that can be interpreted as suns, besides a representative snake, which is the most important scene of these paintings.

The Geyser
A place known as Camino Caliente, this is an extension of land that keeps archaeological vestiges of the Xajay culture, adorned with landscapes that will captivate your eyes. In this place, you will discover the past of a town full of magic, uses, and customs rooted in its identity.

What are its festivities?

• Carnival. The Friday before Ash Wednesday.
• Rain of the Baskets. Friday of Dolores. (April 8). It is the patronal feast
• Cut Chicken. May 3. Young ladies strip chickens on the backs of the Xhitas.
• Fruit fair. July 19 – 28. Fair, and offering of fruit from the region.
