Lottery ticket brings luck with the image of the Cañada de la Virgen pyramid

The image of the Cañada de la Virgen Archaeological Zone, in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, was presented on the Zodiac Lottery ticket No.1533, whose unveiling was carried out by authorities of the National Lottery, the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico, through the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), the Coordination of Historical and Cultural Memory of Mexico, the Government of the State of Guanajuato and the Association of Secretaries of Tourism (Asetur).
The general director of the National Lottery, Margarita González Saravia Calderón, mentioned that the tickets of the archeological zones highlight the cultural values that each corner of the country keeps, besides supporting the reactivation of tourism; “they are zones protected by the INAH and a reason for national pride”.
He informed that the Zodiac Draw No. 1533 has a Jackpot of 7 million pesos in one series and a prize pool of 24 million pesos; it will be held on Sunday, July 4, at 8:00 p.m. in the institution’s drawing-room, located in the “El Moro” building.
In his speech, the director of the INAH Guanajuato Center, David Jimenez Guillen said that for INAH, through this state representation, it is an honor to witness the presentation of the lottery ticket alluding to the Cañada de la Virgen Archaeological Zone, in which 50 years ago, as part of the decentralization of the institution, archaeological work began”, so that Guanajuato was the first state nationwide, where this process began.
“The issuance of this banknote is a recognition to the site, but also to the actors who erected it to settle in the central basin of the Laja River, to the indigenous people who founded it and to those who reoccupied it, as well as to those who rescued it, investigated it and have put it at the service of all of us, to reencounter us with a part of our historical past”, he expressed.
In turn, the coordinator of the archaeological zone, Omar Cruces Cervantes, explained that Cañada de la Virgen is an important ceremonial center, a place of worship and pilgrimage located in the northern Mesoamerican border area, which developed between 540 and 1050 A.D. and was part of the archaeological tradition of the Laja River, east and center of Guanajuato.
In his opportunity, the Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato, Juan José Álvarez Brunel, emphasized that he works hand in hand with Governor Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo, who has shown interest and participation to support the development of the Cañada de la Virgen Archaeological Zone.
During the unveiling, the state official, on behalf of Guanajuato’s tourism sector, celebrated and thanked the National Lottery for having included this site for the draw.
“Guanajuato is a state with a great diversity of tourist attractions, and that is why Sectur’s strategy manifests a boost to cultural activity, which provokes and renews the intention that visitors and tourists come to the state to experience great stories,” he concluded.
The Zodiac Draw No. 1530 ticket is already available for purchase at the 12 thousand points of sale nationwide and through the official web pages, where the electronic cachitos can be purchased since two million 400 thousand tickets went on sale. The cost of the fraction or cachito is $20.00, while the cost of the series or entero is $400.00.
