Seven-meter sinkhole surprises residents of SMA

No, it didn’t happen in Puebla, now it happened in San Miguel de Allende. A sinkhole between six and seven meters deep surprised neighbors in the Valle del Maíz neighborhood. A deep hole triggered alerts from people passing nearby, and photos quickly circulated on social networks.

A citizen report on a local news page provoked all kinds of reactions because between the streets of La Rivera and Santa Cruz a hole formed in the ground with dry branches at the bottom, according to neighbors this sinkhole measures approximately two meters wide.

Around the hole, there are stones placed to prevent people from putting themselves at risk.

The images circulated in networks this Sunday, they were shared with the intention of asking for help from the authorities, as it is common for children, pets, and vehicles to circulate in this area, neighbors fear an accident. Municipal Civil Protection has not provided information about this finding.

Crack in Celaya

Although a sinkhole did not appear in Celaya, a crack in a public park has caused fear in more than one person.

On June 16, photos circulated on social networks of a huge crack in a park in the Villa de Los Arcos neighborhood, even splitting the jogging track, and the earth practically split in two.

Civil Protection taped the place to avoid accidents, but no information was given about the causes of the geological phenomenon. Although the neighbors assured that the heavy rains of the weekend would have caused the landslide.

Sinkhole in Puebla becomes a dangerous tourist attraction

From renting a rooftop to see the sinkhole, to buying micheladas or fried food to see the hole of 120 meters in diameter, this has been the creative idea of the inhabitants of Santa María Zacatepec, in the municipality of Juan C. Bonilla to make a business out of the tragedy.

This deep hole could be associated with the presence of subway water flows, according to the National Coordination of Civil Protection. As of June 18, residents claimed that other small sinkholes appeared nearby, according to Proceso.
