Now is a great time to donate to our Pet Food Money Bank! All funds received will apply to the annual cost of feeding our resident and foster cats and dogs (an average of 100 in all). Our goal: $250,000 pesos (about $13,500 USD). Let’s take full advantage of the chance to double June donations!

Because animals do not adjust well to changes in diet and we lack sufficient storage space, we need to cover the cost of feeding our cats and dogs what they’re used to eating rather than asking for donations of food. The Sociedad Protectora de Animales de San Miguel de Allende has been leading the charge in animal welfare since 1980. We are the only no-kill animal shelter for dogs and cats in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and we house about 100 animals available for adoption: Dogs or Cats . We also have a clinic within our facilities that offers lower-cost medical care for pets owned by the public.

We have many goals at the S.P.A. We want to educate our community about the importance of taking care of their pets and giving them the health care they need, i.e., vaccinations and sterilization, and provide an economical means to satisfy these responsibilities. We would like to increase awareness and appreciation of animals so that others can enjoy the magic that comes from loving and owning a pet. Teaching others to be kind to and tolerant of animals is another one of our goals. Regarding our own S.P.A. animals, we are searching for permanent, loving homes for all of them. We also want to provide the best living conditions for our animals while they are at the S.P.A., waiting for their forever homes.

Please join us in achieving these goals. by supporting our fundraisers, becoming a member, donating supplies,  or joining our foster program. Unfortunately, during the pandemic, we are not accepting volunteers or visits. As long as certain precautions are followed, adoptions continue and our clinic is open.
