&
Covid -19 SMA Healthcare Teams
During this very traumatic past year doctors, nurses and front-line medical professionals have helped guide us and keep us all safe. They have performed their unwavering dedicated service and care in the fight against the Covid-19 Pandemic. Rotary Midday is honored and proud to truly express our recognition and gratitude through the presentation of this prestigious award.
Joey and Jessica happened to meet one day in Nov 2018 in Soriana when an older Mexican man had a heart attack at the check-out stand and they did CPR together and saved his life. They have not to do this day seen each other since. But in hindsight, given their fateful first encounter they probably both should have known they were destined to team up again.
Early March 2020, they reconnected via phone and discussed that the COVID pandemic was soon coming to SMA. With Joey’s years of experience as a nurse practitioner in infectious disease coupled with Jessica’s years of experience in critical care nursing, they thought they just MIGHT be able to prepare SMA for this pandemic.
Beginning March 12, 2020, they quarantined and were on a mission and researched everything there was to know about COVID…and have not stopped.
Special acknowledgements go to Rebecca Penn, Kate Greenaway, Carolee and Gil Ornelas, Deana Spencer, Teri Kavanagh, Chris McCaskill (Masks 4U), Charlie Kamerman, Scottie and Brian Elliot, Gabriela Osario, Carrie Haugh, Bonney McDowell, Elizabeth Burleigh, Eric Alderman, Joyce Strom Butler, Glen Wilson (SMA Faqs), Erik Kaplan (San Miguel de Allende COVID-19 – Community), David Bossman RSISMA), and our translators, Matilde Alberny, Carla Archer and Joanna Rodden Sancha Barnes and Nathan Sánchez.
