Van Gogh in the Mid-Atlantic: 21 DC/MD/VA Paintings
– Livestream Program –
Sunday, February 14, 2021 at 11:00 PM
Vincent Van Gogh’s career as an artist spanned the final ten years of his life (1853-1890). During that time he created 868 oil paintings, 21 of which are physically located at five museums in the Mid-Atlantic region: Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia.
Join us for an educational and entertaining online/virtual program to learn more about Vincent’s life and legacy by reviewing his 21 Mid-Atlantic paintings. We’ll see his development as an artist, and also compare and contrast the DC-MD-VA works to several of his other well-known paintings. We’ll also discuss the pop culture influence of these paintings in areas such as films.
The 21 Mid-Atlantic paintings are physically located at the following museums:
The National Gallery of Art: Washington, DC = 10 paintings
The Phillips Collection: Washington, DC = 3 paintings
The Baltimore Museum of Art: Baltimore, MD = 3 paintings
The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts: Richmond, VA = 3 paintings
The Kreeger Museum: Washington, DC = 2 paintings
This is a complementary program to our Van Gogh Museum (Amsterdam) tour we’ve been offering – dates on our event calendar.
Your host for this program is Robert Kelleman, the founder/director of the non-profit community organization Washington, DC History & Culture.
