The Rotary club has invited the bestselling author of San Miguel de Allende’s Secrets book series (including a Christmas book) and our city’s top-rated private walking tour guide to explain the indigenous and Spanish roots of today’s holiday traditions.
The holiday season in town spans from the celebrations for St. Nicholas and the Virgin of Guadalupe through Three Kings’ Day and a bit beyond. The holidays are a grand celebration of Jesus’ birth and one of the loveliest and most culturally active times to be in town.
To understand what goes on this holiday time of year (the processions, plays, piñatas and paintings) the Rotary is hosting a wry and witty explanation led by Joseph Toone. He will also tell us how this year will be different because of Covid. Toone also creates videos about the holidays on YouTube’s channel dedicated to San Miguel de Allende Secrets.
