About
The main objective of the Fundación Jóvenes Sanmiguelenses is to eradicate child malnutrition in highly marginalized communities in San Miguel de Allende.Fundación “JOVENES SANMIGUELENSES” is a non-profit organization that works primarily for the improvement of our municipality: San Miguel Allende Gto.
HISTORY
The future of communities is shaped by their children, who must have an integral development that begins with good health… being well fed is the basis for achieving this. With this vision, Fundación Jóvenes Sanmiguelenses was born in 2010, whose main objective is to eradicate child malnutrition from all highly marginalized communities in San Miguel de Allende.A small group of young social entrepreneurs and philanthropists decided to join forces to form lasting alliances with businesses and related institutions, so that together, they leave the most important legacy that our society can leave… a healthy and capable youth with the opportunity to develop to their fullest potential and contribute to their community.
In 2010 and 2011 we focus our efforts on identifying communities and their needs. During those dates we helped to improve the quality of life of all the people who needed our support; we carried out a SCHOLARSHIP program so that young people could continue their high school studies and a technical career. Two young women from rural communities benefited, one to finish her high school, and the other to cover the first quarter of her career. A MEDICAL DISPENSER was also developed to help with part of the cost of medicines required by parents of children in the communities where we work. We also donated TOYS at children’s day and Three Kings events. OFFICIAL WORKSHOPS were held in two communities (goat hills and mouths bundle). We also started our school breakfast program for pre-school and elementary school children in rural communities.
Once we had authorization from SAT for FUNDACION JOVENES SANMIGUELENSES AC to provide tax-deductible receipts, and due to the conditions of the same authorization, in 2012 we focused our efforts on Food and Nutrition. We began by supporting three communities: San José de Gracia (15 preschool children and 58 elementary school children), Castaño de Abajo (4 preschool children and 38 elementary school children) and San Rafael (6 preschool children and 16 elementary school children), all rural areas of San Miguel de Allende. The objective was to provide a varied and nutritious breakfast, twice a week, to children in the preschool and primary schools of these communities.
