As it does every year, the Rosewood San Miguel de Allende is proud to announce its iconic celebration of the Day of the Dead, one of the most deeply rooted celebrations in Mexican culture, which this year will be entitled “Celebrating Eternity”. On November 2, the hotel will become the perfect setting to commemorate loved ones lost through an experience that combines tradition, gastronomy and art.
The Day of the Dead is a festival recognized by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and Rosewood San Miguel de Allende captures its essence by offering an experience where guests can immerse themselves in the folklore, ancient customs and most authentic flavors of Mexico. Amidst alebrijes, marigolds, marigolds and a carefully orchestrated altar, the hotel will be enveloped in a vibrant atmosphere that celebrates the Day of the Dead. Every nook and cranny will reflect the spirit of this ancestral tradition, blending colors and elements that symbolize life, memory and honoring our loved ones.
Rosewood San Miguel de Allende, in collaboration with the destination, will honor the departed on November 2 by presenting the traditional Catrinas Parade, a true celebration in which each year visitors and locals enthusiastically participate in a tour through the streets of the city guided by music, mojigangas, colorful costumes and a great festive spirit.
For those who wish, the hotel will set up a make-up room where you can dress up as an authentic Catrine or Catrina.
After the parade, the “Celebrating Eternity” dinner will be held in the Rosewood Garden. Its green surroundings and panoramic views will provide the perfect setting for this festivity. During the evening, attendees will enjoy a gastronomic experience that pays homage to the rich culinary heritage of the Day of the Dead. The dinner will be distributed in several stations carefully prepared to offer a variety of traditional dishes. Among the options, there will be corn, pozole verde, Oaxacan tamales, mole poblano, and a taco station offering tacos al pastor, carnitas, cochinita, and more, accompanied by various sauces and garnishes. For those with a sweet tooth, there will be a dessert station that will include pan de muerto, churros, buñuelos and flan de rompope, among others. With neon details in their attire, the event hosts will add a modern and festive touch to the celebration. Traditional music and colorful décor will fill the evening with special moments, creating an opportunity to connect with loved ones through food, tradition and culture, celebrating life and honoring the memory of those who have departed. In addition, during this season a delicious version of pan de muerto filled with chocolate or strawberries will be available to take home at Artesana Boutique.
