Jose came by today to take some pictures of work he had done in order to give them to an architect. It reminded me–When you really want plumbing done right–Jose Ramirez 415-112-5653 is the plumber of choice in my opinion.
Jose rebuilt our whole plumbing system from the street to the faucets, including cisterna, filter system, the works.
He spent 12 years becoming a master in the U.S. Speaks good English.
He does what he says he’s going to do and does it right. And when something goes wrong–as it always does building in Mexico–he fixes it for no charge. Really, he worked on our place for 6 months and was always a pleasure to work with. His guys are good and so is he. I hear so much about problems and trust issues–I trust Jose completely–never had a bad day with him.

My plumber, my friend: JOSE! I was new to San Miguel in 2008 and bought a home. I was Jose’s first customer. He did so many things for me through the years. I referred him to all my friends, hence his business growing. Jose is trustworthy and smart. He fixes things correctly from the get-go. I could call Jose at any time, day or night, and he was at my house promptly. Not only was a “mistro,” he was also my friend. I miss him very much. Judy Teel, Rockport, Texas.

Jose Ramirez Is THE Plumber! When he came when my brand new Bosch water heater failed! Why did it fail? Because it was installed improperly and was way too small for my house. Everyone was complaining that there was no hot water! Jose figured out the problem and did a professional job and now everyone is happy! Five stars! Great Plumber who guarantees his work.
I forgot to mention that Jose speaks fluent English and Spanish. That’s VERY helpful!
Jose is fabulous—my garbage disposal conked out on Super Bowl Sunday and he came right over and fixed it! Highly recommend.
Unfortunately I would advise anyone looking for a qualified plumber to look elsewhere. I found Jose Ramirez to be incompetent and arrogant. He made multiple mistakes causing damage to our building and charged an outrageous price to fix his mistakes. Not only that but when he finished I was left with leaks under the sink that I’m still dealing with. And the patches to the concrete where he made numerous unnecessary holes looks terrible.

Removed my on demand water heater to repair in his shop- returned it saying it was fixed. It did not work- after several attempts he became frustrated and stopped. He said buy a new one- he charged charged $1200 pesos. I don’t recommend him.
I was fortunate to find José Ramírez, a plumber in San Miguel de Allende, through DiscoverSMA. My wife and I had just taken possession of our new home in Valle de Los Senderos on September 14 when we discovered that the electrical installation was completely out of compliance with NOM standards. One of the issues we needed to fix immediately was the relocation of the whole‑house water filtration system, which had been installed just inches from the electrical panel and non‑GFCI outlets—another clear NOM violation.
For months, I tried to find someone qualified to handle this. Several people came to look at the job, promised to follow up, and then disappeared. José was the first person who actually followed through. He arrived exactly when he said he would, relocated the entire filtration system correctly, and moved the reverse‑osmosis unit to a much more accessible location.
He also went above and beyond. I had mentioned that we needed an additional propane tank lifted onto the roof but couldn’t find a crane. On the day he came to work, José spotted a crane at a nearby construction site, confirmed the operator could help, drove straight to my house to tell me, and then took me in his pickup to buy the tank. We returned, the crane lifted it into place, and the problem was solved. He absolutely didn’t have to do this, but he saved me a tremendous amount of time, stress, and logistical hassle.
