With twenty-seven years of existence, the Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) is proud to carry the invaluable vision of the thousands of filmmakers who have graced its screens with works that transcend geographical and conceptual boundaries.
Founded in 1998 by Sarah Hoch and Ernesto Herrera, GIFF has established itself over the past quarter-century as a vital training center that contributes to the success of emerging filmmakers, actors, producers, screenwriters, and technicians in our country. Since then, the Guanajuato International Film Festival’s vision has been rooted in the importance of renewal and the application of innovative strategies. We are committed to serving new audiences, adopting new technologies, and taking into account all aspects of the cinematic universe. Twenty-seven years after our initial steps, our vigor remains intact, although our responsibility has grown. Today, more than ever, we are focused on creating new experiences and generating actions that foster the maximum potential for filmmaking.
GIFF includes an official competition selection and special screenings featuring the finest Mexican and international cinema, conferences, workshops, industry spaces, concerts, tributes, premieres, and many other activities to enjoy art and culture together in the privileged spaces offered by Guanajuato’s cities. With continued effort and a permanent spirit of celebration, this first quarter of a century represents an even stronger commitment to continue fulfilling our work and making our audiences want it.
