The Chapel of Jimmy Ray Gallery invites the public to a vibrant afternoon of art, music, and community for the Día de los Artistas Exhibition, held in honor of International Artists Day. This free event celebrates creative expression in all its forms at one of Mexico’s most imaginative art spaces. The exhibition will feature works by Anado McLauchlin, Carlos Ramírez, Richard Schultz, and Meryl Truett, each offering a unique artistic vision.
Carlos Ramírez, born in San Miguel de Allende and raised in La Cieneguita, is a mosaic and tin artist whose colorful, symbolic works reflect his indigenous heritage and deep connection to local culture.
Richard Schultz, originally from San Francisco, brings the influence of the 1960s Summer of Love to his art. After a long career teaching art and history, he moved to Mexico with his husband, Anado McLauchlin, where the two created Casa de las Ranas and The Chapel of Jimmy Ray Gallery—a living testament to love and creative freedom.
Meryl Truett is a curator, gallerists, teacher, consultant, and artist who has exhibited extensively in the U.S. and Europe. She teaches photography, mixed media, and book publishing workshops, and invites participants to join her mixed media workshops at her San Miguel studio. Her artwork captures the fleeting light of Día de los Muertos, merging photography and encaustic wax to explore memory, spirituality, and the delicate boundary between life and death.
Guests can also enter a raffle to win one of Truett’s mixed media artworks. A live DJ set by Bruno Landis will complete the celebration with music and atmosphere.
“This event is about honoring creativity in all its forms — the joy of making, sharing, and experiencing art together,” in the immortal words of gallery founder Anado McLauchlin.
