I have to tell you all that this is a GREAT class — super fun, in a beautiful setting and you get an amazing, low- impact workout..

Erendira is phenomenal! Plus, if you have any physical issues that restrict movement she will find a workaround for that. The class is good for all ages and all levels of expertise. You don’t even have to be able to swim. I highly recommend it.

I’ve been going to Erendira Gordillo’s water aerobics class at the Aldea for several years. It’s perfect. The pool is heated and if it’s chilly out, once you dry off (and I’ve learned I can take the wet bathing suit off under my dress!) and put on a sweater you’re comfortable again. There’s also a dressing room with hot showers where you can change, and free parking. The class exercises and stretches all your muscles, and if something hurts in the air it most likely won’t hurt in the water. Best of all, Erendira is a marvelous teacher – she knows what she’s doing and she is always cheerful, funny, encouraging, and happy — and I’ve had a number of water aerobics teachers over my lifetime and so can compare. Her classes at the Aldea are Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 to 10:30 and 10:45 to 11:45. The flotation belts and barbells are provided. (Although I wish her damned music weren’t so loud!)

It is not cheap – 200 pesos per class payable at the beginning of the month, with no drop-ins. I find paying in advance helps me to do it, actually. Exercise is unfortunately essential – if I had my way I’d be reading books all day – and this is the most pleasant way I’ve found to do it. So if you dislike exercise and the notion of walking on uneven sidewalks and streets gives you the creeps, consider this.
