Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts will be managed by Hilton, will feature 120 hotel rooms and 24 private residences in San Miguel de Allende

A large metal structure attracts the attention of neighbors and visitors who pass through the area of El Cardo, very close to the historic center of San Miguel de Allende. The fence surrounds the old parking lot announcing the start of construction of Waldorf Astoria, a complex that will mix hotel rooms and luxury residences.

Over the years, the people of San Miguel have witnessed the transformations of this space that went from being a large dirt road with free access, where athletes went to run and play soccer, to becoming an ISSEG parking lot, with a pharmacy included, which always looked empty.

The land, which covers an area of 15,386 square meters and is located at Calzada del Cardo number 12, in the center of San Miguel de Allende, ceased to be part of the inventory of the Social Security Institute of the State of Guanajuato in 2016 when, through an auction, it was sold for 185 million pesos to a private company.

Since then its operation has been intermittent, the space that has 692 parking spaces has served as such during events that brought together a large number of attendees in Parque Juárez, which is located just a few meters from the place; as a venue for tourist events or the promotion of local producers, and even as a venue for vaccination days during the pandemic.

Today, with the placement of perimeter fences that prevent visibility to the place, the people of San Miguel know that another change is coming: a new luxury hotel will be part of the San Miguel panorama.

Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts will be managed by Hilton, will feature 120 hotel rooms and 24 private residences, plus a state-of-the-art fitness center, spa, pool terrace, art gallery, kids and teen club, three restaurants, two bars and a café, plus a craft store.

The project is scheduled to be inaugurated at the beginning of next year.
