Dine Out for Water Brings San Miguel’s Community
Together to Support Clean Water Access
Caminos de Agua, a local nonprofit dedicated to improving access to safe drinking water, will host its first annual Dine Out for Water fundraiser on March 18, inviting the San Miguel community to support clean water solutions while enjoying the city’s vibrant culinary scene.
Timed around World Water Day (March 22), Dine Out for Water offers residents and visitors a simple and meaningful way to contribute. Anyone who makes a donation to Caminos de Agua between February 18 and March 18 will receive a 20% discount at participating restaurants, redeemable only on the day of the event, March 18.
With a minimum donation of $1,000 pesos (or $50 USD) per couple, participants receive the 20% discount at any participating restaurant on March 18. Caminos de Agua staff and volunteers will be present at each participating restaurant, available to answer questions, share information about local water challenges, and connect directly with diners throughout the day.
All proceeds directly support Caminos de Agua’s water treatment, monitoring, and education projects in rural communities affected by groundwater contamination and water scarcity.
“Dine Out for Water is about connection,” said Hardy Holland event organizer. “It brings people together to share a meal, learn about local water challenges, and become part of the solution—both for themselves and for their neighbors.”
Inspired by similar initiatives in the United States, the event has been adapted to reflect San Miguel de Allende’s strong sense of community and collaboration. It is designed to welcome longtime supporters of Caminos de Agua as well as newcomers looking for meaningful ways to engage with local causes.
Dine Out for Water is sponsored by the VIP Club and participating restaurants: Cent’Anni, Florios, Hank’s, Hortus, Lolita, Nirvana, The Restaurant, Trina Cantina, and Viñedo Dos Búhos.
By turning a night out into an act of solidarity, Dine Out for Water shows that lasting impact can begin with a shared meal—one table at a time.
