Mayor Alejandro Navarro announced, from Mexico City, that it will be held from November 17 to 21 and will be the first edition to replace the former Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF).
For its first edition, the municipal government will invest $1 million pesos in the event for 5 days of films, shows and parties that will include the emblematic tunnels.
The mayor of Guanajuato, Alejandro Navarro, and the festival’s executive director, Iván Zárate, indicated that all activities will be free of charge in at least 5 venues throughout the city.
Spain and Durango will be the guests of honor in the first installment.
“These first editions of the film festival will have subsidies and/or support from the government, at least for the three years we are in the municipal presidency, but later the festival can have its own life through its sponsors and not be subject to the economic support of either the state or the municipality because it is important that THE FESTIVAL NOT BE ANYONE’S REHENRY or that no one is held hostage to the festival,” he concluded.
