Easter Week activities will be reactivated in SMA

After two years of the pandemic, Easter Week activities will be reactivated and there is great expectation for tourism in Guanajuato, since the hotels in tourist places such as San Miguel de Allende are almost 100 percent booked.

Juan José Álvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism commented that in 2020 and 2021 the Holy Week celebrations would not be held as people are used to, “since due to the pandemic we had to take precautions following the indications of the Health Secretariat and with that Guanajuato could move as it has done in this time of Covid”.

He assured that “this year’s Holy Week comes with great expectations, not only for the fact of enjoying our Heritage Cities or Magical Towns but also for the religious activities that were left out, the celebrations such as the Holy Burial, processions of silence, in different places and today they will be carried out”.

On the other hand, hotels are already reporting good reservations for these dates in our heritage cities and tourist sites in the state and this makes us happy because the economic reactivation is on the right track, he also invited people to visit Guanajuato and experience great stories, said the Secretary of Tourism of the State.

He informed that tourism service providers will have a lot of activity, and will be able to share with tourists and visitors, these experiences and meet their expectations, Guanajuato will continue to strengthen tourism, particularly in Dolores Hidalgo and San Miguel de Allende.

Since March of last year, Guanajuato has been growing in economic and tourism matters in a gradual way, but by the end of 2021, it closed with more than 50 percent of the economic activity compared to that registered in 2019.

“This year we estimate that we will close very close to 100 percent of the recovery of those numbers and we will enter 2023 with a significant growth in the state’s tourism economic activity,” said Alvarez Brunel.

He concluded by saying that Guanajuato is having important numbers and is one of the states that has been recovering the fastest and in this sense, together with the tourism service providers, we are sure that we will bring this tourism recovery of the state to a successful conclusion.
