Preparations begin for the podiatry and Kids First workshops that for 18 years have helped children and young people with free consultations and pediatric orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Roberto Maxwell, the founder of the workshops, commented that they have already had talks with the directors of the General Hospital, DIF, and the Municipal Government to prepare everything for this year’s free consultations and surgeries, of course, if Covid allows it since we have been unable to do so for two years due to the pandemic.
With 18 years of experience in this type of work, Dr. Maxwell said that the doctors coming from the United States are already prepared and ready to perform more than 600 consultations in two days and approximately 120 surgeries in four days.
He commented that the paperwork for the importation of medicines and equipment for surgery takes approximately 3 to 4 months, so it is expected that Kids First will be held in May and the podiatry surgery for adults in August.
The worst thing that can happen is that the pandemic is canceled, but if it is not canceled by Covid, we already have the equipment, medicines, medical and nursing personnel ready to work on this journey.
Until today all the agencies and doctors involved are already in talks and ready to carry them out, we only hope that the virus will let us work, this journey that is done in San Miguel de Allende is the largest that is done worldwide, and people and children from San Miguel de Allende, and the state of Guanajuato and now also from Queretaro, San Luis Potosi are attended.
