About the Concert

The recital is presented in two contrasting sections. The first explores the dramatic brilliance of nineteenth- and twentieth-century opera through celebrated works by Giacomo Puccini, Georges Bizet, Charles Gounod, and Jacques Offenbach, featuring some of the world’s most iconic operatic arias and duets. Following the intermission, the program moves into the refined world of French mélodie with music by Reynaldo Hahn, Francis Poulenc, and Kurt Weill, concluding with an exhilarating selection from the Spanish zarzuela tradition.

María Katzarava is internationally recognized as one of Mexico’s leading dramatic sopranos, having performed at legendary venues including Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro Real in Madrid, and the Arena di Verona. Winner of both the Opera and Zarzuela First Prizes at Operalia 2008, she has established herself as one of today’s foremost operatic voices. Alongside her, soprano Lluvia Ruelas brings an acclaimed international career spanning Mexico, Austria, and Italy, while renowned Polish-Mexican pianist Jozef Olechowski contributes decades of artistic excellence through performances across Europe, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas.
