    RUBEN MORALES …’Holiday Gift Galore’…Sunday December 8

Bordello Galería will be hosting our favorite Morelian artist, Ruben Morales. This event will be hosted Sunday December 8 from 3 to 6 PM. Ruben has created many small paintings and will also bring small gift items for this special holiday gift exhibit.

Morales has been a long time favorite at Casa de la Noche, where his works are featured in many of the guest rooms. He has designated Bordello Galería as his primary venue.

Barbara Poole, the exhibit organizer, first became interested in Morales’s work in the nineties, and has since collected many of his paintings, now seen throughout the Casa de la Noche B&B. These images evoke memories of a simpler time, and contribute to the experience of Mexican charm so characteristic of Casa de la Noche.

Morales, now 78, has used his life experiences to inspire his art. “I work to create a mood or emotion, not just a picture.” He does this through faceless subjects in everyday situations; a woman selling flowers, an old man walking with a cane or a girl washing clothes. Emotion is evoked through posture, composition and color which is applied in broad strokes with a pallet knife or brush. His images often reflect the common man and woman toiling, and his painting moods have changed with his own experiences: his wife’s passing, his recovery from sightlessness after a fall and most recently, renewed vigor after two serious health crises.

This exhibition will be held at the Bordello GalerÍa, so named because its location is in the house where ‘ladies of the night’ once made their living. Exhibition space takes up several common rooms of the large B&B, known as Casa de La Noche. This eighteen room ‘Hotel Boutique’ is filled with art and is a cozy respite for tourists and travelers.

Please come Sunday December 8th and enjoy our hospitality and art, and meet the man who captures the Mexican heart, Ruben Morales.

“Holiday Gifts Galore” event is just on Sunday, December 8th, but you may see Morales’ works on the walls at Casa de la Noche every day between 10 and 6pm.

Bordello Galería is located at Casa de la Noche,
    Organos #19 in Centro.
Drop by for exhibit viewing daily from 10am to 6pm.
