Mauricio Trejo, Municipal President Speaks to Midday Rotary

It’s so lovely to see more and more English-speaking San Miguel de Sanmiguelenses joining the new vision of our wonderful municipal president, Mauricio Trejo! He’s doing a great job of making San Miguel de Allende an even more wonderful place to live.

As part of his ongoing efforts to connect with different sectors of San Miguel de Allende society, the mayor had the pleasure of meeting with members of Midday Rotary of SMA, a foreign community based in this city. The group expressed their support for continuing to generate actions that benefit the entire population of San Miguel de Allende, through this organization with local and international reach.

Mauricio Trejo was delighted to present his government project for the next three years as head of the Municipal Administration in front of this wonderful community of “English-speaking Sanmiguelenses”. He was very grateful for their support in improving the achievements and progress made in the three-year term that just ended.

The president had a lot to say about his public policies, and he made sure to mention some specific projects that he’ll continue to focus on for all San Miguel residents, no matter where they live! He talked about public safety, family support, mobility, basic services, water use, balanced urban development, sports spaces, and public areas.

It was great to hear him talk about these issues and how he plans to address them.

While sharing their thoughts on his proposals, many people brought up important issues that matter to this vibrant city. Mauricio Trejo was happy to respond:

“San Miguel is going to be smiling for the next three years!” (On the relationship with Governor Libia García and President Claudia Sheinbaum) We’re going to be just fine! We’ll see how things go in the next few months. “We’ll see what the future holds when it comes to security. It’s so important for us to have a great relationship with the public security forces. We need to work together and support each other to make San Miguel an even safer place for everyone. We’ve been so lucky to have historically low crime rates, and it’s a wonderful feeling to know that San Miguel is a safe place to live, work, and play. You can really feel it when you’re out and about in the city. It’s a sense of security and belonging, and that’s exactly what we’re striving to maintain,” said Mauricio Trejo.

He also promised that this new government term, 2024-2027, will be even better for all San Miguel residents! He said that they will continue to address the most sensitive issues for the population in San Miguel. “We have been successful in the past three years,” he said. (On animal abuse) I will stand up for the people who have been affected by the actions of these three individuals. (On a new airport and the arrival of transnational supermarkets) We will ruin the city if they are built. We will break the balance and lose the way of living here. (On the passage of heavy cargo transport) They will not circulate through San Miguel. It will be an advance towards safe mobility.

As he did with this lovely group of folks who call San Miguel home, the municipal president will keep meeting with more and more people from all walks of life. He’s eager to hear their ideas and continue building his vision for the next three years in our beloved municipality.

And the more people who join us in our mission to make San Miguel the best city in Mexico and the world, the better!
