    San Francisco opens its doors to tourism by hosting an exhibition that will take you back to the past.

    For the first time the templo de San Francisco opens its doors to tourism by hosting an exhibition that will take you back to the past, right at the entrance of the former convent of la Tercera Orden or formerly the former convent of San Antonio, which belongs to the templo de San Francisco, pieces, sketches and paintings by Leonardo da Vinci arrived from Italy, so you cannot miss this great exhibition of one of the most brilliant minds in universal history.

    Before entering the exhibition, you should know that the place that currently houses these incredible pieces is known as the Temple of the Third Order, as well as the area where the convent used to be; besides, the town changed its name to Temple of San Francisco, since the temple that currently dominates the complex has this Franciscan denomination.

    So you will also enter a place that you could only enter if you are in marital talks or your child goes to catechism, but now this precinct houses one of the most important exhibitions that have come to this city of San Miguel de Allende.

    When you enter the place you will go up some stairs that have two flying machines built by Leonardo Da Vinci, who designed them and named them ornithopters, where the man was the engine of the machine, moving with his body the mechanism of the wings. These machines belong to the first period of Leonardo’s study of flight, from 1482 to 1499.

    In addition to these flying machines, you can see some sketches of his work, as well as a video explanation of his work in two of the rooms.

    There are virtual images that project the Vitruvian Man or Study of the ideal proportions of the human body, which is a famous drawing accompanied by anatomical notes by Leonardo da Vinci.

    In a couple of rooms you will also find other types of machines such as The Mechanical Cat, the diving suit, another piece is the movable and drawbridge, as well as the self-supporting bridge which consists of pieces that are easy to carry, transport and assemble without the need for tools, as it is self-supporting and very stable.

    In the paintings you can appreciate ‘The Virgin and Child with St. Anne and St. John the Baptist Child’, ‘The Last Supper’, as well as one of his most famous pieces in the world ‘La Gioconda’ or better known as ‘La Mona Lisa’, among others.

    In this exhibition, distributed in four rooms and a corridor, you will be able to appreciate a great part of his inventions and works made by this genius of the Renaissance, and to know more about his creative process and the relevance of the artistic legacy of the greatest Italian master.

    So if you visit San Miguel de Allende during these dates and until the month of December, you will be able to witness this great exhibition that has unique pieces, in a wonderful place that combines its essence with Leonardo’s style.
