The Guanajuato International Film Festival, the largest in Mexico and one of the most prestigious in the world, returns this year with an array of cinematic delights. This year’s festival spans three cities: León (July 19-21), San Miguel de Allende (July 22-25), and Irapuato (July 26-29). All screenings and events are free, inviting film enthusiasts to partake in this grand celebration of cinema.

Venues and Highlights in San Miguel de AllendeIn San Miguel, the films will be showcased at several venues, including: Bellas Artes, Panteón at Jardin Nuevo Vida, Teatro Santa Ana, Cinemex. Additionally, there will be surprise venues announced closer to the dates. Each city will host midnight screenings of horror films in the Panteones, a tradition that has always been a massive hit.
San Miguel is set to have two nights dedicated to these thrilling screenings. The festival will also honor iconic filmmakers, actors, and directors, drawing visitors from over 50 countries and 32 Mexican states. This year’s special programs include tributes to women in film and television, a focus on LGBT cinema, and various events for children, including red-carpet events, classes, and workshops in animation.
