In San Miguel de Allende you can already feel the festive atmosphere before the Sunday of the Convite de Locos. With the aim of encouraging participation in local traditions among the little ones this June 13, the day of San Antonio de Padua, the Loquitos parade was held, in which the little students of kindergartens of the municipality participate.
Dressed in colorful costumes and with backpacks in front to have the candy that they throw at the spectators at hand, hundreds of children, between three and six years old, left Juárez Park for the San Antonio atrium, filling the streets with music and color.
Chickens, clowns, trolls, fantastic characters, minions, animals, pirates, scarecrows and even policemen, were represented in the different groups that were guided by the equally characterized teachers and who with all the encouragement invited the little ones to dance while they made the tour.
Fathers and mothers also joined the celebration, some in costume and others only accompanying the ‘loquitos’ from afar, they were filling the backpacks of their little ones with the sweets that the children threw with full hands.
17 kindergartens from the municipality participated in the tour, each with its own sound cart that marked the rhythm with which the colorful groups moved.
According to local authorities, there were approximately 1,500 children who participated in this ‘mini treat’.
